Join the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and Richmond Parks and Recreation to help maintain young trees at Fonticello Park, including the tiny forest. Volunteers will prune, mulch, weed, fix broken stakes/cages, and plant about a dozen trees in the tiny forest. This maintenance is essential to ensure these trees can cool our city, filter air and water pollution, stabilize soil to reduce erosion, and lower carbon emissions.
No prior experience is necessary! All tools, gloves, and instructions will be provided. Please wear weather‑appropriate clothing, sturdy shoes, and bring your own water bottle. Be sure to register so we can bring the appropriate number of tools.
Volunteers age 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
Keep in mind that we limit the number of volunteers who can participate, so if you find that your schedule or health prevents you from being able to attend, please let us know so another volunteer can attend in your place. You can contact Ann Jurczyk via email at ajurczyk@cbf.orgor by phone at 804-258-1522.
